About the maker

I am a ceramic hobbyist based in Reno, Nevada.  I make most of my pottery from my garage studio and fire my pieces with the lovely folks at The Wedge

My pottery journey began around 2006 when I took my first wheel throwing class at the Berkeley Art Studio. I was immediately hooked to the pottery making process. Those early years were spent exploring different decoration techniques, types of clay, glazes and firing methods.  It was not until 2015 when I moved to London that I began to develop my own aesthetic. Today, I gravitate towards simple and modern forms with subtle details. I focus on showcasing the natural color of the clay and glazes are used mostly for functional purpose and to create color and textural contrast.

Ceramics is a life-long journey and I am only at the beginning. Selling my work for charity is a way to show gratitude and add meaning to my creative practice.  If you are still reading this, thank you and I hope you sign up for my newsletter and come along for the ride!

About 陶跑

I have adopted 陶跑 as my maker’s mark. 陶 (pronounced ‘Táo’) is the Chinese character for pottery and 跑 (pronounced ‘Pǎo’) is the character for run. 陶跑 also happens to have the same pronunciation as the characters 逃跑, which means “escape”. The idea came to me in 2012 when I first qualified for the Boston Marathon. Together these symbolize the freedom that’s found in both my creative practice and distance running.
