Shallow Stoneware Bowl

Color: Translucent pale green with iron speckles

This bowl is hand thrown from a cone 10 stoneware clay (IMCO Stoneware #5) and fired in reduction atmosphere in a gas kiln. Before the glaze was applied, a layer of wax, which prevents glaze from being absorbed by the porous bisque ware, was applied loosely with a corse brush at the bottom of the bowl as a design element. The size of this bowl is perfect for pasta or salad. It’s also great as a side dish serving bowl.

The bowls are dishwasher safe and food safe, but please take extra care as they are all hand-made. Washing them by hand is still the recommended cleaning option. Although I personally don’t have much concern putting these bowls in the microwave, it is typically not recommended for hand-made ceramics.
